I really like it when the client has a sketch, a poem, a collection of images or a journal on what the project might be.  We meet, I listen.  Hopefully, we dive into the project right away by walking the site, exploring our options or sketching.

What’s next?

I typically sketch on my laptop, in a sketch book or in the dirt. We walk together and feel the site, watch the clouds and brainstorm about what the project might be. No idea is too small, irrelevant or unimportant. We will gather all of the ideas and sort through these ideas together.

How do I bill?

I bill hourly. This way it is fair for each of us.  I work efficiently and only bill for the hours that I actually spend on your project.  You can also save on my hourly fee by doing some of the work yourself, helping to select product and finishes, or pausing until your ideas are better formed.

I do not mark up anything.  Engineers, consultants and products are usually paid directly by the client and without a mark up.

Who do I work with?

Many of my clients are owner/ builders, developers or just creative types. Sometimes the client brings a contractor to the project, the contractor brings me in or I suggest a contractor. In all cases, we have worked well together and the outcome of every project has been excellent.
